Element types allow you to share the element specification across elements. There are three ways to use the element type feature:

  1. Create an element type

To create an element type, enter the element specification and then enter a unique name for your element type in the Type field box. For example, CT-101 for a ceiling or WT-101 for a wall. Then, press the "engineer" button to run the engineering calculations on that element and save the type.

  1. Select an existing element type

To use or change the type specification for the current element, click in the Type field box and select the existing type that you want from the dropdown. Selecting the type will copy across the type specification into this element and run the engineering validation calcs.

  1. Reset an element type

To reset or change an existing element type, make changes to the specification for the current element, and then click on the Type field box to open the dropdown selector. Chose the existing type, and the specification for that type will be overwritten for this element, and every other element that shares the same element type name.
